Admiration for volunteers clearing mud in Mae Sai returns 200k necklace

Two volunteers in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, were praised for discovering a gold necklace weighing 3 baht and three gold-encased amulets valued at nearly 200,000 baht while assisting in cleaning homes affected by flooding.

On September 29, 2024, at 4 PM, reports indicated that a local official was informed by volunteers aiding residents impacted by floods in Mae Sai, upon orders from the governor of Sakon Nakhon province.

While the volunteers, Pankiat Onjongklai and Tawan Patumrat, were excavating mud within a house in Moo 2, they uncovered the buried jewelry, which had been hidden beneath the mud and was partially visible due to their digging efforts.

They subsequently notified the homeowner, 58-year-old Rangsarn Wansee, who confirmed the ownership of the gold and amulets and received them back with gratitude and appreciation from the local community towards the volunteers.
