Baudouin de Groot
Boudewijn de Groot stops performing. Even after corona he will no longer be on the podium, he writes on his website. The 76-year-old singer would tour again next year with Henny Vrienten (Doe Maar) and George Kooymans (Golden Earring), but that will not happen.
“Corona, at first, and George’s illness forced us to prematurely end our last tour as we started it at the beginning of last year,” writes De Groot. George Kooymans was recently diagnosed with the progressive muscle disease ALS. In recent years, the three men have performed under the name Vreemd Kostnemers.
For De Groot, the abrupt farewell is “the proverbial candle after a career of 56 years of live performances”. He will continue to make music and write lyrics. “I have already done the latter to a great extent in recent years and I hope to be able to continue doing it for a while.”
