A warning incident occurred when a child wearing a raincoat was riding behind a parent on a motorcycle. The long raincoat got caught in the motorcycle wheel, trapping the boy’s arm. Volunteer rescuers responded quickly, but the child’s arm was left deformed.
On September 25, 2024, the rescue unit known as Hook 31 in Nakhon Ratchasima received a report from a citizen about a schoolboy whose arm was stuck in a motorcycle wheel. The incident took place on Highway No. 2, at the overpass in Ban Phothi, Muang District.
At the scene, rescuers found a blue Honda Wave 100 motorcycle overturned on the side of the road, with an 8-10 year old boy in a yellow school shirt, whose left wrist was trapped in the rear wheel spokes. Rescuers worked to cut away part of the wheel to free the boy’s arm, which was deformed in the process. He was then given first aid and transported to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital.
It was reported that the injured child was sitting on the motorcycle rear-side while being driven by his parent. The oversized raincoat became entangled in the rear wheel, causing the motorcycle to topple and resulting in the trapped arm.
