Crowd at Ma Tuck Gold shop as Saraburi woman sells back gold

Customers continue to flock to Ma Tak Gold Shop to sell back gold, with one woman from Saraburi arriving at 2 AM expressing her disappointment after her mother pawned gold at another shop which was later found to be below standard and threatened with police action.

As of 9 AM on September 30, 2024, many citizens were waiting outside the Ma Tak Gold Shop in Bangkok to return approximately 300 pieces of gold. The shop was closed but had posted a notice stating they would accept 200 customers from 10 AM, only for those who bought Pi Xie amulets. Customers signed in with their contact information to wait for their turn.

Ms. Chotika Seosila, 32, who came from Saraburi, arrived at the shop at 2 AM and slept in her car. She signed up for queue number 28 and had purchased a Pi Xie gold bracelet worth 30,000 Baht for her mother’s birthday through a live sale by Ma Tak about a year ago.

Later, her mother needed money and pawned the gold, which was found to be below standard, leading to alarm and the threat of police involvement. This caused great distress, and while they didn’t initially consider filing a complaint due to a lack of news, the growing reports of damage encouraged many affected customers to return their gold in hopes of getting their full money back since they had paid full price initially and expected the same upon return, without pursuing legal action.
