Cats play a lot and happily. No matter how young or old they are, a ball of wool, the lace of your shoe or a wad of paper is simply irresistible. And let them be wrong. That is fun for them to do, but it is also maintaining their hunting techniques. Actually, playing and hunting is the same for cats. Fortunately, there is plenty in the house that even the most bored cat can enjoy themselves with.

What games does the cat enjoy?
All cats want to play. Even if your cat doesn’t seem interested in a game, you will still see that you can seduce him. By nature, a cat is always busy hunting, but indoors it is little stimulated to do so. So get started and you will be amazed!
It is important to know what your cat likes. Does your cat prefer to run after prey? Then he prefers to play with things that move, such as an animal on a fishing rod. Does your cat prefer to peek at prey from behind the planter? Then he likes a toy lying still on the floor the best.
After a week, a cat gradually loses interest in a toy. It is therefore best to change them every week. The toys that are not used can be stored, possibly with a bag of catnip. Or swap cat toys with some friends. So what are you waiting for? Play with your cat! And don’t be fooled by all the fluorescent, squeaky, flashing and crackling toys in the pet store. Because let’s face it, if it can move your cat is already very happy. And there is plenty of that in the house.
Toys for the cat in the house
light
Really, your cat doesn’t know what he’s doing when he sees a beam of light on the wall. Drop a few rays of the sun on your watch or a mirror, reflect it on the wall and move! Your cat can enjoy itself for hours. And you too!
Empty boxes
Cats like to discover new things, especially things they can enter or hide. He just needs to know what is going on there! And how often do they come across an empty box? Not every day! So do your cat a favor and just leave the box behind after unpacking the groceries.
Wad of paper
It moves and it creaks. They can hit it and chew it. So all in one.
Shoelaces
On your shoe or out of your shoe: your cat will enjoy a string. The longer the string, the better.
Water droplets
Not all cats like water, but dripping from the tap is exciting. Although some cats prefer to admire the happening from a distance.
Balls
Bouncing ball, ping pong ball, tennis ball, plush ball … Every household has a ball somewhere. Guaranteed for hours of fun, because a ball goes in all directions and thus stimulates the cat’s hunting instinct.
Feathers
Keep your eyes open and you will certainly find some feathers outside. Especially in the summer when many birds are molting, you will see them lying around. Cats love the feather alone, but tied to a string you can also play together a lot.
Confetti in an old sock or panty
You can make your own toys with confetti. Tie it together with some catnip in an old sock or panty and you have a great toy.
Not good to play with
Not everything you find in and around your home is good for a cat to play with.
- Never use gift ribbon or sewing thread as a toy. This is too sharp for the cat.
- Never let a rope swing, a cat can get stuck.
- Cats love dice and small toys, such as Lego. However, they are often too small, creating a risk of swallowing them.
- Be careful with rubber bands. Some cats like to eat them.
