Police arrested a Myanmar man for the brutal murder of a compatriot in Phetchabun Province, where he allegedly skinned the victim’s face and cut off an ear following a drunken argument.
On October 19, 2024, authorities found the body of a Myanmar laborer, identified as Aung Min Thi, 48, lying by the roadside near a Buddhist college construction site. The body showed severe injuries, including a skinned face, a deep throat wound, and a missing ear. The police discovered a knife at the scene believed to be the murder weapon. The victim likely died 8-10 hours prior to the discovery.
The investigation revealed that on the night of October 17, Aung Min Thi had been drinking with other Myanmar workers until they ran out of alcohol. He left with a friend, Lin Lin Aye, 20, to buy more drinks, but both vanished until Aung’s body was found early the next morning.
Authorities, including investigators from the local police, pursued Lin Lin Aye throughout the night. They were alerted by locals who spotted him seeking food and clothing the following morning. He was apprehended and taken for questioning.
During interrogation, Lin Lin Aye confessed that he and Aung Min Thi had argued during drinking, with Aung asserting his elder status and Lin being upset by it. After a physical altercation broke out, Aung allegedly drew a knife to attack Lin, who then wrestled the blade away and stabbed Aung in the stomach and under the throat, fatally injuring him. Lin then mutilated Aung’s face before fleeing into nearby woods.
Lin Lin Aye was subsequently charged with intentional homicide and legal proceedings will follow.
