
The coalition agreement of VVD, D66, CDA and ChristenUnie has been completed and the political groups have agreed to it. This means that a team of ministers must now be assembled quickly. The search for ministers for the fourth Rutte cabinet promises to be a challenge.
In the first place because it will be a much larger team, which preferably also consists of half men and half women. They have to manage a huge mountain of complicated and sensitive files, with a high risk of damage, in a polarized climate where they also have to take into account that they may be threatened. Who else wants that?
The search for ministers is always complicated, says parliamentary historian Alexander van Kessel in podcast Day. Because no matter how honorable it is, it’s not a job you just take. But it always works, at least… almost always.
