“Police charge Tik Shiro for driving under the influence”

On October 15, 2024, at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat in Bangkok, “Tik Shiro” and his wife attended the funeral of 28-year-old Teeraporn Siwphornpitak (“Meiji”), who was killed in a collision involving Tik, a 63-year-old singer, driving a Hyundai van. One person was severely injured in the incident: 21-year-old Junior Siwphornpitak, Meiji’s brother. The family had been holding prayers for two days before the burial. Tik, along with relatives and friends, expressed sorrow during the ceremony but declined to comment to the media.

Upon arriving at the funeral, Tik refused all media questions about the case but placed a flower offering and bowed his head at the coffin. Teeraporn’s father, Jirawat Siwphornpitak, mentioned that the police had tried to contact him recently but he was unable to meet them.

Additionally, Tik’s wife, Pranthira Nantasen, posted on Facebook stating that “he did not flee… he just needed medical treatment,” and emphasized the need for understanding rather than blame, urging that the incident should serve as a case study for everyone involved.

Police Chief Pol. Col. Nareth Kraeunsuk confirmed that Tik was charged with reckless driving resulting in death and serious injury, as well as driving under the influence due to blood alcohol levels exceeding legal limits. Following the charges, Tik was released without bail, and the police are now working to gather evidence for court while also arranging a meeting concerning compensation for the victims.
