Two groups of teenagers from Chonburi and Chachoengsao provinces engaged in a shooting incident that resulted in one death and three serious injuries. The altercation began when over 10 members of a group from Phan Thong, Chonburi, confronted a crew from Bang Pakong, Chachoengsao, on the Bang Na-Trad Road to resolve an issue related to a girl. The situation escalated into gunfire and physical attacks.
The incident occurred at 12:15 AM on October 21, as reported by local police. The shootout took place in front of a roadside restaurant, prompting a response from law enforcement and emergency medical services. Four seriously injured teens were found at the scene: a 13-year-old with a gunshot wound to the back, another 17-year-old who was shot in the head and torso, and a 16-year-old shot in the back. A 22-year-old was also seriously injured from a blade attack.
Witness testimonies reveal that the groups, previously in conflict due to derogatory comments about each other’s relationships, arranged to meet for a resolution. However, during the meeting, they were unexpectedly attacked, leading to chaos as both groups fled the scene.
An eyewitness, a restaurant owner, reported hearing gunshots and seeing teenagers rush into her establishment for cover, with several sustaining injuries outside. Over 10 perpetrators were involved in the attack.
Following the incident, police began a manhunt for the aggressors, capturing one individual, 19-year-old Chai Rat Noor Thang. He claimed he was there merely to help resolve a misunderstanding but ultimately fired a warning shot, unaware it would hit anyone. He, alongside ten others, is being interrogated regarding their participation in the melee. Authorities have pressed charges related to the altercation resulting in death.
