The Swedish car brand Volvo is introducing the Plug and Charge function. The service will premiere in November in the new entry-level model EX30 and from 2024 in the flagship EX90. The service, which is increasingly used throughout the industry, enables charging without an app or charging card after a one-time authentication process or the deposit of the appropriate means of payment. As soon as a suitable charging station is connected to the vehicle, the charging process begins automatically after authorization.
Volvo is launching additional services
In parallel to the plug-and-charge connection, the Northern Lights under Chinese Geely management are introducing numerous smaller improvements to charging convenience. In the future, charging for electricity can be started and ended via the Volvo app, and new billing modalities are available for corporate customers. It is not known whether the two previous Volvo electric vehicles, the C40 and XC40, will also benefit from the new services in the future. (Text: hh/sp-x | Images: manufacturer)
