Kanye West will not be allowed to perform at this year’s Grammy Awards due to his inappropriate behavior on social media, his representative told US media. The most important American music awards are presented at the Grammys.
The performance by West, who now calls himself Ye, had not yet been officially announced, but it was intended that he would make an appearance.
The organizers have canceled the performance over concerns that Ye will use the stage to attack the gala host Trevor Noah.
Suspended from Instagram
Earlier this week, Ye was banned from Instagram for 24 hours; he made a racist remark to South African comedian Noah. He had in his TV program The Daily Show Said Ye was behaving badly towards his ex Kim Kardashian and her new boyfriend Pete Davidson.
Ye responded to a photo of Noah on Instagram after the broadcast with the original lyrics of the song kumbayain which he used a racist word for black people who betray their own group.
Ye has been nominated five times for a Grammy this year. It is still unclear whether he will be allowed to be a guest at the ceremony. He has already won 22 Grammy Awards and has been nominated 75 times in total.
