A tragic incident occurred when a 14-year-old girl fatally stabbed her 48-year-old grandmother with a knife at their home. After the incident, the girl fled but later returned to surrender to the police at Sam Dam Police Station, where she provided a statement assisted by child welfare professionals due to her status as a minor.

The event took place at approximately 2 PM on September 23, 2024, at a rental house located in Bang Bon District, Bangkok. Police discovered the deceased, named Rattanaporn Rojana-on, lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds on her neck, back, and waist. A knife and a wooden hammer were found at the scene and collected as evidence.

The perpetrator, referred to as Girl A (a pseudonym), is the granddaughter of the victim. She fled briefly to collect her thoughts before returning to confess her actions to the police, who then began their investigation according to juvenile laws.

The victim’s husband, Janwut Rojana-on, stated that they had been together for over 30 years and that while the deceased often drank alcohol and had occasional arguments with Girl A, he never imagined it would lead to such violence. The girl’s parents had not visited or supported her and her younger brother for years, resulting in them being raised by their grandmother and grandfather.

The police have required interdisciplinary collaboration for questioning due to the suspect’s age, and the body of the deceased has been sent for further examination to determine the cause of death. Reports indicate that the stabbing was possibly a result of ongoing verbal abuse directed towards Girl A, including her grandmother’s derogatory remarks about her status.
