The Deputy Spokesperson of the Department of Corrections reported that the female boss of “The Icon Group,” Pichaya Watthamontri, is adjusting well on her second night in prison, while the male boss is still experiencing stress and anxiety, without any special requests.
On October 19, 2024, the Director of the Women’s Correctional Institution provided updates on Pichaya’s health, stating that she had previously suffered from gastritis but is now feeling better after receiving medication. Her meals included rice, boiled eggs, and vegetable soup.
The second day’s breakfast consisted of rice and clear soup with vermicelli and cabbage. She is sleeping better and has been engaging in occasional conversations with other female bosses. There are currently no signs of severe anxiety or depression requiring monitoring.
No specific requests for reading materials, such as religious texts, have been made by the inmates. They have only inquired about purchasing personal items and how to schedule family visits.
Out of the other female bosses who arrived with Pichaya, none are showing abnormal signs of stress or depression, and one with hypertension received normal health assessment results.
Regarding potential visits with another inmate, Krongkanok Suwanbut, there is a possibility they could meet, as Krongkanok is being returned to custody after recovering from stress-related health issues.
Meanwhile, Kanthapol Rueangaram, currently imprisoned, may not have a chance to meet with male bosses until the authorities determine their conditions following quarantine.
Pramot Thongsri, an expert in correctional systems, stated he spoke with Warahtpol Wratthawarakul, another inmate, about rights and ensured compliance with quarantine measures.
Visiting rights for relatives are scheduled for October 23, while lawyers can visit immediately via conference systems. The inmates reported normal stress levels, and there are mental health professionals monitoring their wellbeing.
As these inmates are still fighting their cases and have not been convicted, measures are in place to ensure their safety given their status as public figures. CCTV surveillance is operational to monitor their conditions continuously. No lawyers have visited today due to it being a holiday.
