A 64-year-old delivery man, identified as Mr. Chaiporn Punhod, was attacked and robbed by two men after they staged a car accident with his motorcycle on the night of October 16, 2024. The assailants made off with 1,500 baht.
The incident occurred while Mr. Chaiporn was delivering food near Westgate Shopping Mall. After being forced to stop by a black minivan, he was confronted by its driver, who falsely claimed to be an official and demanded 5,000 baht in damages. When Mr. Chaiporn suggested they resolve the matter at the police station, one of the attackers from a silver pickup truck stole his wallet and punched him in the eye.
Mr. Chaiporn described his injuries, including bruising and a swollen eye, and reported that he was treated for a laceration on his eyebrow and facial fractures at the hospital. Despite his injuries, he emphasized that the attackers had planned the robbery and were not genuine about the supposed accident.
He called for the police to apprehend the criminals, expressing concern for his financial situation as he supports his elderly mother on his meager earnings as a delivery person. The police are currently investigating and have obtained some surveillance footage, believing they will soon track down the culprits.
