Police have arrested a suspect, 32-year-old Phisanu Chongjit, who befriended a 12-year-old boy and coerced him into sending naked photos for blackmail, demanding money regularly. Authorities found chat logs with nine additional victims.
On October 18, 2024, police from the Technology Crime Suppression Center, Region 5, arrested Phisanu at a parking area in Bangkok, following a warrant issued by a court in Chiang Mai. Investigators discovered three mobile phones and three bank account books in his possession during a search of his nearby residence.
The case came to light after the boy’s father, 46-year-old Bodin, reported that someone using the Facebook account “Hadees Spood Speed Spad” had befriended his son and manipulated him into sending nude pictures. The suspect then sent threatening messages demanding money, warning that the pictures would be shared if he did not comply. The boy, fearing for his safety, transferred a total of 7,098 baht across 12 transactions.
On September 11, 2024, Bodin sought help from the Tech Crime Suppression Center to investigate further, explaining that his son had become extremely fearful and withdrawn, even contemplating self-harm due to the ongoing threats.
Authorities collected evidence and traced financial transactions linking Phisanu to the reported account. They identified him living near the arrest location and subsequently apprehended him. Phisanu admitted to using the Facebook account to coerce the victims into transferring money. Investigators also found additional chat logs with nine more minors regarding sexual topics.
Phisanu was charged with extortion and fraud, and his case has been referred to the police in Chiang Mai for further legal action.
