The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) recently apprehended a woman known as “Mother of Sia Po” at her luxury home in the Phutthamonthon SAI 2 area due to her involvement in an online gambling operation. During the arrest, she attempted to escape by climbing over the back fence but was ultimately apprehended by the authorities.

On October 23, 2024, police reported that under the direction of Police Lt. Gen. Jiraphob Phuridech, they executed a warrant against N.S. Banyen, aged 51, who was wanted for organizing unauthorized online gambling activities. Alongside her was N.S. Phukscat, aged 31, also arrested for advertising and facilitating these gambling services.

The investigation began in June 2022 when authorities identified a Facebook account promoting online gambling. The site offered betting on various games, raising significant funds through its operations.

Banyen was found to have set up bank accounts to funnel profits from the online gambling site. A total of 31 individuals were implicated in this network that facilitated online gambling and money laundering.

Since February 3, 2021, law enforcement has been gathering evidence against those involved, leading to over 20 arrests. Some suspects managed to evade authorities, including four still at large.

During the recent operation, officers searched the upscale residence in Phutthamonthon SAI 2 based on a court-issued warrant. Upon arrival, they spotted Banyen trying to escape, but she retreated back inside the house.

After identifying and confirming her identity, officers also arrested N.S. Phukscat, who was hiding inside the home. Both women denied the allegations, claiming they were merely players and had no involvement in organizing gambling activities.

Following their arrests, both women were taken into custody for further legal proceedings.

Overall, the investigation highlights significant efforts by Thai authorities to combat organized crime linked to online gambling.
