Arrest of teen murderer: Classmate admits to killing and hiding body

An arrest has been made for the strangulation murder of a 15-year-old student identified as a close friend of the victim, who confessed to the crime. The assailant claimed he was angered by harsh words from the victim.

On September 29, 2024, reports emerged regarding the death of NONG FAANG, a 15-year-old boy, whose body was discovered in an abandoned dirt pit after he went missing since the evening of September 24, along with his motorcycle and mobile phone. Family members had posted images seeking information about him before his remains were found by a mushroom collector. (Read the news: Murder of a 15-year-old student over motorcycle theft).

Authorities apprehended a 15-year-old boy, identified as “Boy A” (pseudonym), who was the last person to have ridden home with the victim, for questioning at the police station.

Initially, Boy A was silent and denied involvement, claiming the victim rode off after dropping him home. However, after further questioning, he confessed to killing his friend and disposing of the body in the abandoned pit, stealing the motorcycle, and selling the victim’s mobile phone out of anger at the victim’s remarks.

After his confession, police retrieved the motorcycle from the girlfriend’s house where Boy A had stored it and the cellphone he sold, taking him to the crime scene where he detailed the events leading up to the murder.

The incident began with the two riding the motorcycle to a wooded area where an altercation ensued. Boy A, being physically larger, overpowered NONG FAANG, who eventually fell unconscious. Boy A then used his shoelace to strangle NONG FAANG for approximately one minute until he stopped breathing, before dragging the body to the pit and concealing the motorcycle.

Afterward, Boy A took his girlfriend to see the location of the body before fleeing, and the police are currently investigating further legal actions as he is still a minor.

Later, at 2 PM, Boy A’s mother arrived at the police station after learning of her son’s involvement and broke down in tears, expressing disbelief that her son, the youngest of four and a good student, could commit such an act. She stated he does not have a violent temperament and has always associated well with friends, adding her condolences to the victim’s family and a heartfelt apology.

Police Colonel Phuwadon Viriyanurakoon emphasized that after discovering NONG FAANG’s body, they initiated inquiries into the victim’s friends. Upon reviewing surveillance footage, they saw Boy A riding with the victim, which helped trace back to the events leading to NONG FAANG’s disappearance.

Cell phone signals were tracked near the area where his remains were eventually located, around 2-3 kilometers from the crime scene, leading officials to canvass the area where NONG FAANG’s body was eventually found by locals out collecting mushrooms.
