Bangkok exceeds tax target: 92 billion collected, says Chatchart

On September 24, Bangkok Governor Chatchart Sittipunt announced that the city has surpassed its tax collection target for the fiscal year 2024. Originally aiming for 90 billion baht, the municipality successfully collected 92 billion baht in taxes. Chatchart highlighted the importance of this achievement as the additional revenue will fund various public projects.

Key sources of revenue for Bangkok include signage taxes and land and building taxes. For the fiscal year the estimated revenue from four main tax types was set at 16.644 billion baht, with a target collection of 18.35481 billion baht for the four categories: land and building tax, signage tax, residential property tax, and local maintenance tax. From October 1, 2023, to August 30, 2024, Bangkok collected a total of 18.13581 billion baht, attaining 98.81% of the target and exceeding initial projections by 8.96%.
