The Medical Council of Thailand, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, is taking further legal action against Dr. Thananon Hiranchaiwan, also known as “Boss Doctor Aek,” for operating a medical facility without proper authorization.
On October 15, various officials, including Dr. Thanakrit Jitrareerat, the Deputy Minister of Public Health, and General Dr. Itthiporn Koonchaoren, Secretary-General of the Medical Council, reported the case to the police. Dr. Thanakrit indicated that the “Boss Doctor Aek” had falsely presented himself as a physician and created confusion by sharing images and videos of himself treating patients on social media, which caused public concern.
The Medical Council confirmed that “Boss Doctor Aek” is not registered as a physician, meaning he is operating illegally as an unlicensed doctor. Although he has medical technology qualifications, this does not permit him to practice medicine or treat patients.
The authorities have filed complaints against him under the Medical Profession Act of 1975 for practicing medicine without a license and for operating a medical facility without authorization, which falls under the Health Facility Act of 1998. Tomorrow, they plan to inspect two medical facilities associated with him to verify compliance with the necessary licenses.
General Dr. Itthiporn mentioned that the Medical Council’s action focuses on the individual, but further investigations uncovered violations related to the Health Facility Act, thus coordinating with the Ministry of Public Health. It was noted that “Boss Doctor Aek”‘s medical technology license might have expired, and further verification with the Medical Technology Council is needed.
