Boss’s relatives visit inmate to address “Kant’s” health rumors

Deputy Spokesperson of the Department of Corrections denied rumors concerning Bos Kan being in poor health, confirming these reports are untrue, while noting he is in the adjustment phase. Family members of Bos from “Dai Icon Group” have visited the inmate.

On October 22, 2024, it was reported that the visiting hours for the female inmates, including those from the “Dai Icon Group,” opened after a COVID-19 quarantine period. Mrs. Kanokwan Jiwcheupan, the Director of the Central Women’s Prison and Deputy Spokesperson, stated that the inmates have completed a five-day quarantine and will be transferred to a trial detention wing. Mental health is not a concern at this time, although adjustment may take longer.

Actress Pichaya Wathanamantri, known as Bos Min, has not made any special requests and is managing her stress better, though not fully back to normal due to the prison environment. The prison offers guidance on living in captivity and peer support from fellow inmates, along with health volunteers overseeing physical and mental health.

Inmates will be separated based on their individual characteristics for safety and care. For example, pregnant inmates or those with chronic conditions will be placed in suitable accommodations.

Additionally, the female inmates will not be kept together entirely, and they will have limited participation in prison activities as they prepare for their trials. If they wish to engage in such activities, they must notify the authorities while maintaining safety measures to avoid conflicts.

Visiting rights for legal representatives are unrestricted, while family visits are limited to one per day for 15-20 minutes, with an option for online video call visits each month. Three family members visited on this day, predominantly close relatives.

There are clear distinctions in the treatment of pre-trial and sentenced inmates, based on policy from the Minister of Justice and the Department of Corrections. Pre-trial inmates can keep their hair long but must tie it back, while their court attire has changed from a typical cow-color to light yellow.

In terms of health, some male inmates have chronic illnesses, but treatment is ongoing. Kan has requested artificial tears for dry eyes, while others experience mild illnesses. Discussion with prison expert Pramote Thongsri is ongoing regarding where the male pre-trial inmates will be assigned post-quarantine.

Contrary to rumors, Kan’s health has not deteriorated, and he has not required medical attention at odd hours. Additionally, claims that he could hardly eat are false. A family member reportedly visited Bos Min, bringing medications.

From October 24 onwards, relatives can visit Bos males, with visits also limited to 15-20 minutes per day and video calls available via registration. The department seeks to manage concerns about space inside the cells, aiming for each inmate to have about 1.6 square meters. Most pre-trial inmates have opened savings accounts with limited amounts, not exceeding 15,000 baht.

Notably, Mrs. Korakarn Suwanbut, also known as “Mother Tuck,” is currently in a trial detention area, where Bos women may encounter her; health concerns about her were also dismissed.

In summary, the Department of Corrections is committed to ensuring the well-being of all inmates during the trial process, while addressing health and safety protocols rigorously.
