Police from Region 5 arrested a 32-year-old man, Pisanu Jongjitrang, in Bangkok for blackmailing a 12-year-old boy from Chiang Mai. He pretended to be a woman on Facebook to manipulate the boy into sharing nude photos, which he then used to extort money, threatening to post the images online if the boy did not comply. The boy transferred money to the suspect 12 times, totaling 7,098 baht. The boy’s father reported the incident after learning of the situation, prompting police to investigate.
On October 19, police revealed their findings, including evidence of conversations between the suspect and other minors. The father initially reported the case on August 29, detailing how someone using the Facebook account “Hadis Supidspidspad” befriended his son and coerced him into sending explicit photos. The boy was severely affected, fearing to attend school due to ongoing threats, indicating depression and thoughts of self-harm.
After further investigations, police obtained a warrant for Pisanu on October 16, leading to his capture on October 17 near Bang Na. During questioning, he confessed to his actions, and authorities discovered more conversations with other minors concerning sexual topics. The investigation is ongoing to identify all potential victims.
