Acting Police Chief “Big Tai” addressed the recent fire incident involving a school bus, stating that the Department of Transportation, local authorities, and police must strictly check vehicle and driver conditions. Legal action will be fully pursued against the bus driver and the owning company.

On October 2, 2024, at 12:50 PM, at Don Mueang Military Airport, Police Lt. Gen. Kittirat Panyaphet, acting as the Police Chief, provided updates on the investigation into the fire that occurred during a school outing. A suspect has been identified and is currently in police custody at Kukut Police Station.

Ongoing inspections of the bus are being conducted in collaboration with the Department of Transportation. DNA samples from the deceased and relatives have been collected for identification, totaling 22 identified victims. The identification of the 23rd victim is pending DNA confirmation from their mother, who is on her way to the forensic institute. The Prime Minister is concerned about the deceased and arrangements are being made for their transport to Uthai Thani.

Lt. Gen. Kittirat mentioned that the investigation results will lead to the development of new safety standards, particularly for school trips, emphasizing stringent checks on vehicles and drivers by the relevant authorities moving forward.
