Chef Aoy, famous franchise owner, embezzles over 2 million

Chef Oi, whose real name is Yuwadee Chaisiri, has been arrested for embezzling over 2 million baht after offering to mediate the sale of jewelry for a victim who intended to invest in her restaurant franchise.

On October 8, 2024, police officers executed an arrest warrant from the Bang Bon Court dated September 2, 2024, apprehending the 54-year-old from Phitsanulok Province for embezzlement.

The incident traces back to early 2024 when the victim contacted Yuwadee after discovering her through television as a well-known chef. The victim entrusted Yuwadee with jewelry worth over 2 million baht to sell, believing in her reputation and experience.

Months later, the victim learned that Yuwadee had instead used the jewelry as a deposit for her restaurant business. Upon demanding the return of the items, Yuwadee evaded the requests, prompting the victim to report the case to the police.

The police issued a summons for Yuwadee, but she failed to appear. Therefore, a warrant was sought and she was eventually apprehended at a shopping center in Srinakarin, Bangkok, where she initially confessed before being remanded for legal proceedings.

Yuwadee, known as Chef Oi, gained fame after appearing on “Iron Chef Thailand” and is recognized for her Asian modern cuisine and significant culinary skills. She owns a popular restaurant and has ventured into producing and selling homemade fish balls, in addition to a new noodle project that attracts customers daily.

Her ambitions included expanding her business through franchising until the legal issues arose.
