Court denies bail for mother and Pa Beer, citing severe circumstances

The Criminal Court has denied bail to Ms. Korakot Suwanbut, also known as Tak’s mother, and Mr. Kaan Ruang-aram, referred to as Beer, due to serious circumstances that raise concerns they may flee or interfere with witnesses, pending investigation results.

On October 1, 2024, it was reported that the police presented Ms. Korakot and Mr. Kaan, who are suspects in a case involving fraud against the public, providing false information through computer systems, and unfair advertising, among other charges. The police filed a request for the initial detention of the suspects for 12 days from October 1-12, 2024, opposing bail due to wide-ranging damages and fear the suspects might flee or tamper with evidence. Nearly ten victims attended the court to oppose bail for the suspects.

Lawyer Anusorn Asuraphong (also known as Lawyer Pat) stated that victims opposed bail for Ms. Korakot, emphasizing that whether bail is granted is at the court’s discretion. The victims do not wish to see the suspects released on bail. The suspects, while denying the charges, have the right to defend themselves in court.

Later at 4:30 PM, after the court approved the detention, the suspects filed a request for temporary release with security. However, the court assessed the case’s circumstances, considering the opposition from the police and victims. It concluded that due to multiple damages to several victims, ongoing witness investigations, and concerns about flight or evidence tampering, the request for bail was denied until the investigation is completed.
