Customers are flocking to return their gold to “Mae Tak” shop, with some feeling disappointed due to a significant price drop. The shop confirms that customers must bring all promotional items back to receive a full refund for gold items like the “Pi Xie” bracelets.

On September 24, a report arose regarding customers who bought gold online from “Mae Tak Karakonnak,” a popular live streamer selling gold through her husband “Pae Beer.” Customers faced issues selling their gold to other shops due to missing gold percentages and branding details previously promised.

During an appearance on a talk show, “Mae Tak” and “Pae Beer” clarified that their shop does not sell fake gold. They acknowledged that during promotions, the exact weight of gold was not clearly stated, and they invite customers to return items that cannot be sold elsewhere for a buyback due to miscommunication. However, some customers are opting to file complaints instead of returning their gold.

On the same day, news reporters found long queues of customers at the “Petch Thong K2N” mall returning their gold, leading to traffic congestion that required police assistance to manage crowd control.

Customers returning Pi Xie products learned they would receive less refund without all accompanying promotional items, and they also reported being asked to sign waivers regarding legal actions post-transaction. For instance, one customer brought back a charm bought at approximately 1,500 baht and was only offered 410 baht, citing missing gold content.

Additionally, officials from the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) and police plan to inspect the weight of returned gold items against their labels, as discrepancies would imply wrongdoing. There are also inquiries into the origins of the products sold.

Shop owners claimed the products are imported, and the OCPB intends to trace the buying sources. The verification process is expected to be swift to uncover the truth, while consumers are encouraged to report issues through the OCPB’s website.
