Cyber police arrest YouTuber “Meng Pakdam” for online gambling ads

“Cyberspace police” apprehended “Meng Pak Dam”, a popular YouTuber with over 5 million views, for allegedly promoting online gambling.

On October 18, 2024, police were ordered to track down Mr. Phanuwat Sirichai, known as Meng Pak Dam, a 40-year-old influencer from Rayong, Thailand, who has gained a large following for his “prison experience” content with over 100,000 followers and high view counts. Authorities discovered that he was advertising websites encouraging online gambling.

The investigation revealed that he had been posting stories on his Facebook account, “Meng Pak Dam Channel,” linking to 10 online gambling websites and their LINE IDs. Police gathered evidence and filed charges against him for promoting gambling.

Mr. Sirichai later appeared at the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau to provide detailed testimony regarding the charges against him.

During questioning, Mr. Sirichai revealed that he turned to becoming an influencer about four years after his release from a ten-year prison sentence. He was approached by gambling websites to advertise for them, earning 4,000-5,000 baht per day. He continued this work until police intervened, without intentions to escape. He is now in custody, facing legal proceedings.
