Former boxer Santhit injured after 8,000 baht taxi ride to Amnat Charoen

The Deputy Commander of Police Region 3 visited the Pho Khlaeng Police Station to investigate Santis, a former Thai boxer, who allegedly shot at police and took a civilian hostage in Intamara Soi 29. It was revealed that Santis hired a taxi for 8,000 Baht from Bangkok to Amnat Charoen.

Updates on the manhunt for 39-year-old Santis Jehaley, who is wanted under arrest warrant number 4888/2024 for burglary at night and other offenses occurring in Tao Pun sub-district, were provided. Police units from Bangkok collaborated with the Pho Khlaeng police to apprehend him at a checkpoint in Nakhon Ratchasima.

On the morning of October 7, 2024, it was reported that Pho Khlaeng police detained Santis around midnight following a tip-off from Tao Pun police about his flight towards Nakhon Ratchasima. The operation was led by police officers who established a checkpoint on Mitraphap Road.

When a pink taxi drove through the checkpoint, officers inspected it and found Santis inside. Upon being asked to exit the vehicle for arrest, he attempted to flee but was ultimately caught after a chase, sustaining a minor head injury from colliding with a wooden structure during his escape. Police then provided him with medical care and took him into custody.

Later, Police Major General Wiwat Silakhet, the Deputy Commander of Police Region 3, arrived at the police station. Initial investigations revealed that Santis had hired a taxi from Bangkok to take him to Amnat Charoen for a fee of 8,000 Baht. The investigating officers from Tao Pun have now taken over the case, and Santis will be questioned further as legal proceedings continue.
