Nutwalai Phupongta, a Thai woman working as a housekeeper, has become an instant multi-millionaire. This 49-year-old woman worked for years as a housekeeper on the Thai island of Koh Samui for the French Catherine Delacote. When she died this week, it turned out that Delacote’s entire inheritance went to her housekeeper.

Delacote moved to the island beloved by tourists in 2012 with her then husband. This woman owned, among other things, five villas with swimming pools on the island that she rented out.

Phupongta says in Thai media that her boss left her all the villas, two plots of land, a car and money. A total of about 100 million Thai baht, equivalent to about 2.5 million euros. The Frenchwoman is said to have previously transferred around 12,000 euros to her housekeeper to arrange the funeral.

Another Delacote employee reportedly found her body earlier this week on a lounger by the pool. According to Thai police, a gun, a bullet casing, a glass of vodka, sunglasses and a pack of cigarettes were found next to the woman’s body.

Delacote was reportedly suffering from cancer. The police assume suicide.
