Gang betrayal leads to shooting: M16 attack leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

A drug dealer embezzled 600,000 methamphetamine pills from an eastern Thailand financier, prompting a deadly retaliation. After being targeted, he devised a cunning plan, luring his assailants into an ambush where his accomplices attacked them with automatic weapons, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The police chief has instructed investigative teams to gather evidence and prepare arrest warrants to dismantle the entire network.

At a police conference in Bang Sao Thong, Samut Prakan province, on October 3, it was reported that on the night of October 2, 1 deceased driver and 2 seriously injured individuals were caught in a drive-by shooting involving over 30 shots fired from military-grade firearms. The deceased, Praboj Jitthakun, aged 30, was shot dead in a Toyota Camry, while others suffered serious injuries in a Mitsubishi Space Wagon.

The case involves two groups: one that tracked and ambushed the victim, and the other, comprising five individuals, was responsible for the shooting. The initial conflict stemmed from the embezzlement of a massive drug shipment by a dealer known as “Chok,” who failed to pay back the financier. After a failed kidnapping attempt by a hired group, Chok turned the tables and led them into an ambush.

During the ambush, Chok’s group used military-style guns to open fire on the attackers, killing Praboj and injuring two from another vehicle. CCTV and other evidence are now being reviewed to secure arrest warrants for key suspects, including Chok and a motorcycle rider named Wiriya, who had been working both sides.

One passenger in the attacked vehicle described the horrifying encounter: as they attempted to flee and their tire blew, the assailants shot at them before checking if they were alive. Another passenger recounted being hired to locate Chok, revealing that they were misled into a trap set by Wiriya.
