A man physically assaulted his wife after becoming upset over a delayed digital money transfer of 10,000 Baht. The incident occurred on September 30, 2024, in Udon Thani while the couple was arguing about the bank account update.
Upon receiving a report of domestic violence, police responded to find the wife, 46-year-old Tawiporn, with severe head injuries from being beaten with a padlock by her husband, 43-year-old Tum. Tawiporn fled to her sister’s house for help after the assault.
Tawiporn explained that after checking the bank for the deposit, which didn’t appear, she informed Tum about the expected payment date for the digital money. Tum, displeased, began drinking alcohol to calm down, but ended up destroying property and escalating the situation, leading to physical violence.
She described a history of conflict, acknowledging previous altercations with Tum but none as severe as this incident. Despite having divorced him in 2019, she allowed him to stay because of their two children.
Tawiporn’s sister recounted witnessing her sister’s injuries and expressed concern over the couple’s frequent arguments, linking this latest incident to the missing digital funds.
Rescue volunteers provided first aid before transporting Tawiporn to the hospital for treatment. Authorities advised that she could pursue legal action against her husband if she wished.
