The police are intensifying their investigation into the “D Icon Group,” with “Big Tai” ordering teams to interview victims and assess potential legal violations. The police are working with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) to freeze the company’s assets pending further evidence on their origins.

On October 10, 2024, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanpetch, the Acting Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, reported gathering information that suggests the D Icon Group could be involved in pyramid or Ponzi schemes. Victims reported being encouraged to join business opportunities with considerable training fees, followed by complex credit schemes ranging from 2,500 to 250,000 baht, where clients purchased stock to sell.

Pol. Gen. Kittirat emphasized the necessity to hear testimonies from victims to assess damages accurately, with reports suggesting losses around 31 million baht. Investigators across the board have been mobilized for this effort, ensuring transparency and availability for more victims to come forward.

Inquiries were made regarding potential involvement of celebrities associated with the company, to which Pol. Gen. Kittirat responded that investigators would determine if they played any role in the alleged crimes and if they would face asset freezes, asserting that no one would be exempt from legal action.

The investigation’s timeline is estimated to take another 2-3 days for thorough questioning, after which legal implications will be determined and potential summons issued. AMLO is also expected to be involved to halt any asset transactions from the D Icon Group.

Recent reports hinted at fatalities linked to the case, but officials stated they needed verification. The case involving “Mama Tak” and “P’Beer” remains ongoing, having resulted in asset freezes surpassing 100 million baht, aligning similarly to the D Icon investigation.

Pol. Gen. Kittirat assigned oversight of both cases to Pol. Gen. Akkaradet Pinthong to ensure consistency in their investigations.
