On October 1, 2024, Acting Police Chief Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanthet expressed condolences over a tragic bus fire involving students and teachers, which has left 25 individuals unaccounted for. Immediate assistance was ordered for the victims by local police in Pathum Thani.

The incident occurred around 12:30 PM when a school bus, registered as 30-0423 from Sing Buri, caught fire in front of the Vibhavadi Rangsit Monument during a field trip involving three buses from Wat Khao Phra Ya School in Uthai Thani. The fire was intense, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities.

There were a total of 44 people on board the bus, with only 19 able to escape the fire. Injured individuals have been transported to nearby hospitals, including Rangsit Hospital and Rajavithi Hospital, while the number of fatalities is still being confirmed.

Police Colonel Kantaporn Wannana led the investigation at the scene, aiding victims and coordinating with local units for fire control and traffic management, which included closing lanes on the Vibhavadi Rangsit road to facilitate emergency operation. Citizens were advised to avoid the area while authorities continue to determine the cause of the fire.

Acting Police Chief Kittirat also visited the site to oversee the situation and assist the victims promptly.

As of 2:10 PM, authorities confirmed that 25 individuals remain missing from the total of 44, with further identification being awaited for those who escaped the bus.
