The long-standing legal battle over a 30 million baht lottery case in Thailand saw a significant turn of events on September 23, when three defendants agreed to retract their previous statements against the plaintiff, police officer Jaruon Vimoon. They asked for forgiveness, leading to their case being withdrawn.
Since November 2017, the dispute between Pricha Krai-kwan (known as Teacher Pricha) and Lt. Jaruon has escalated through numerous court cases, leading to conflicting claims about the ownership of the lottery winnings.
The Kanchanaburi Provincial Court scheduled hearings to address the case on September 23, requiring all defendants to appear in court, or face arrest warrants if they failed to do so. The complaints revolved around false testimonies related to the lottery case, with potential prison terms for the accused.
The defendants include individuals such as Teacher Pricha, who previously faced a two-year prison sentence for perjury related to this case. Despite multiple lawsuits, Jaruon has reportedly won at every level, reinforcing his claim to the winnings.
Among the testimonies presented, three individuals requested to have their cases withdrawn, citing exhaustion from the prolonged legal struggle. Some of them acknowledged that they were persuaded to testify against Jaruon while in vulnerable positions, such as being hospitalized.
With the emotional toll of the battle weighing heavily on Jaruon, he expressed relief at the thought of moving on but noted that justice needed to be served for the truth to prevail in the case. The defendants indicated that they want to return to their daily lives without the burdens of ongoing legal disputes.
At the same time, Teacher Pricha attended the court proceedings but refrained from commenting publicly.
