The Secretary of the Medical Council has reported “Doctor Ek” for impersonating a physician from The Icon Group without a medical license.
On October 14, 2024, Lt. Gen. Dr. Itthaporn Kanacharoen submitted a complaint to the Central Investigation Bureau against Mr. Thananon, known as Doctor Ek, claiming to be a medical doctor.
Lt. Gen. Dr. Itthaporn revealed that social media reports indicated Doctor Ek was conducting medical examinations and treatments, while investigations showed he only completed a medical technologist program and neither holds a master’s nor a doctoral degree, thus is not listed in the medical license registry.
This impersonation could mislead the public into believing he is a licensed doctor. Furthermore, his medical technologist license has been expired for over six years. He is being charged under Section 26 of the Medical Profession Act of 1982 for practicing medicine without proper authorization.
Evidence includes a video in which Doctor Ek is clearly seen impersonating a physician; at least one clip supports the allegations. So far, no other individuals from The Icon Group have been found to exhibit similar behavior.
Additionally, a warning was issued to medical professionals to be cautious about their image when endorsing products, as this not only violates laws but also breaches ethical standards.
