Mother of “Nong Om Myeim” clarifies abduction claims against Thonglor police

The mother of “Nong Om Yim” clarified to Thonglor police about a Facebook post claiming her 7-year-old daughter had been kidnapped. She stated that she had been threatened and harassed, acknowledging that she was under stress due to family issues, but denied financial troubles.

On October 18, 2024, the mother initially posted on Facebook, claiming her daughter was missing near a school in Sukhumvit Soi 31, but later deleted the post, citing negative comments. The police, concerned for the child’s safety, initiated a search led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Theeradech Thamsuthee and communicated with Pol. Lt. Gen. Thiti Saengsawat about the incident. They quickly organized a team to find the child.

Following investigative efforts, police attempted to contact the mother but were unsuccessful. Upon further inquiry, they found that no missing person’s report had been filed, prompting them to search for her residence. Eventually, they located both the mother and daughter together in a condominium, where they were interviewed by the police.

During questioning, the mother reported being harassed via the Line app since late January 2024 and claimed to have had her identity impersonated. She stated she had fabricated the kidnapping story to prompt her harassers to reveal themselves. She reassured authorities that financial concerns were not her issue, although she was stressed due to family matters. Social services will continue to investigate and offer assistance.

As a result, social workers documented a childcare agreement and recorded daily logs with the Thonglor police as evidence.
