Ping River floods force evacuation of 1,000 from Police HQ

Heavy flooding from the Ping River has forced the evacuation of approximately 1,000 police families from the Police Region 5 flats. In response, Pol. Lt. Gen. Kritthaphol Yiyasakorn, the regional police chief, provided assistance by distributing boxed meals to over 200 police families still stranded in the flats, situated opposite the police station.

On September 25, 2024, Pol. Lt. Gen. Kritthaphol Yiyasakorn, along with other officers, engaged in rescue efforts for the police officers’ families who were affected by the flooding on September 24 and 25. The floodwaters have inundated the entire city of Chiang Mai, including the police station and all associated residential flats.

Many police officers were seen removing essential items from the flats as they prepared to evacuate, with an estimated 200 families remaining in the service flats to provide care for others.

The police chief has delivered food directly to the affected flats, ensuring the families have access to meals, while the water levels in the Ping River remain high.
