Police raid 9 sites linked to “The Icon Group” for evidence

Police from the Provincial Police Bureau executed search warrants at 9 locations linked to the “The Icon Group”, aiming to gather additional evidence in a case currently resulting in damages estimated at 118 million baht.

On October 12, 2024, a press release indicated key police officials, including Major General Suwat Sangnum and others, met to discuss the progress of the case. Meanwhile, the meeting room was prepared to accommodate victims of the alleged fraud, and numerous individuals from across the country came to file complaints.

Since the morning, there was a steady flow of victims reporting their cases to the Central Investigation Bureau, with 70 officers assigned to assist as the volume of complaints had slowed the investigation process. One victim held a sign saying “SAVE กรรชัย” to show support for a famous host who was allegedly threatened regarding the case.

Another victim recounted being lured into investments by an acquaintance tied to a beauty clinic, starting with a low-cost marketing promise. After being convinced by promotions and testimonies, she ended up investing more money and was later pressured for additional investment without appropriate returns, leading to losses.

Additional victims revealed they were encouraged to recruit others into the business and invest in promotional trips abroad, which ultimately did not yield the promised returns, leaving them in financial distress.

Concerning the celebrities involved, a victim expressed skepticism about their claims of non-involvement, questioning how they could participate without having a role in the management of the company.

Deputy National Police Spokesperson Pol. Lt. Col. Uthen Nui Pin confirmed that since the establishment of a complaint center on October 10, over 306 victims have been interviewed, with the total reported damage amounting to 118 million baht.

At around 2:00 PM on the same day, Major General Akra Deja Pimolsri, the Assistant Chief of Police, was expected to provide further updates on the case, with additional operations planned for related company locations.
