Police have intercepted a group of street racers known as “roaring kids” on Vibhavadi Road, seizing a total of 68 motorcycles and detaining several spectators.
On October 24, 2024, at 00:30, Police Lt. Phuchong Meuthung led over 60 traffic officers from Vibhavadi Police Station to conduct a crackdown after receiving reports via social media about a significant gathering of motorcycle riders racing on Vibhavadi Rangsit road, following a lighting show event on Ratchadamnoen road.
Upon spotting the group engaging in illegal racing on the main road, police closed Vibhavadi Rangsit Road and apprehended the offenders, ultimately seizing 68 motorcycles which were taken for further investigation.
According to Lt. Phuchong, all offenders were caught with 22 motorcycles identified as involved in serious violations including “attempted street racing” and “reckless driving.” The individuals included both minors and adults, who will face legal action in court.
Additionally, 46 of the seized motorcycles were subject to fines for traffic violations such as missing license plates and modifications, with many of those involved being spectators rather than racers.
