The Consumer Protection Police (PCPD) have submitted a request to the Attorney General to involve prosecutors in advising on the high-profile Diacon case, which has garnered significant public interest due to the large number of victims.

On October 18, 2024, at the Office of the Attorney General, Police Major General Witiya Sriprasertaphap formally requested Attorney General Piraach Phromsomboonsiri to utilize his powers under the Attorney Act to assign prosecutors to provide guidance on the case.

The case began on October 10, when a complainant, Natt Thanapipatdolphak, reported alleged wrongdoing by Diacon Group Co., Ltd. The complaint states that individuals were recruited to sell products and participate in an investment scheme rather than focusing on product sales, leading to financial losses as the products were overpriced and unfamiliar to the market.

Victims of the scheme have reported substantial financial damage and have sought legal recourse against Diacon Group for alleged fraudulent activities, including collective investment scams. The incidents linked to Diacon Group have spread across various locations in Thailand from 2021 to 2024.

The case involves numerous victims and significant losses, drawing considerable attention from the public and media. Prosecutorial involvement is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the investigation and uphold justice for affected citizens.

Such requests for prosecutor involvement in important cases are not unprecedented, with previous notable cases benefiting from similar arrangements.
