The banks of the Yom River have eroded, creating a gap over 20 meters long, with floodwaters overflowing into various villages. The “Jorad-Witchithong” road had to be closed due to flooding, which posed a danger to drivers.
On September 24, flooding occurred near the Khun Chao Bridge in Thap Phueng Sub-district, Srisamrong District, Sukhothai Province, where water had eroded the riverbank, causing severe flooding in surrounding homes and the neighboring Bang Klong community. Almost 100 households were affected by the rapid influx of water.
The Jorad-Witchithong road had floodwaters approximately 60 centimeters deep over a stretch of 200 meters, leading to traffic closures in both directions from the main intersection to Wat Si Sangwon due to strong current fears of danger.
Additionally, the flooding has affected homes and shops along the western side of the road by the river, where water levels are higher. Residents, assisted by rescue staff, rushed to move possessions to higher ground. Some families were unable to salvage their belongings, having to leave items to be submerged while they evacuated with only essential personal items to stay with friends or relatives outside the flood-affected area.
