Suspect arrested for stealing red license plate car with cat inside

The owner of a stolen black Honda HRV reported that she had a male Thai cat inside the vehicle when it was taken. The incident occurred in the parking lot of a shopping mall in Ratchada, where the thief stole the car while it was idling, and the owner had exited to buy coffee. Authorities are currently attempting to apprehend the suspect.

On October 2, 2024, security personnel at the mall were alerted and tried to block the car, but the driver collided with barriers. The shopping center, The Street Ratchada, issued a statement assuring cooperation with local police and confirmed their security staff acted to the best of their abilities.

The center is actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as needed. They maintain strict safety protocols for visitors and staff.

Police Colonel Prasopchok Eampinit reported that the 25-year-old owner was in the area running errands and left her cat in the car since she did not want to turn off the engine and risk overheating. After spotting her car being driven away, she alerted security.

The thief attempted to escape, but the mall has a single exit, which allowed security to try to intercept the vehicle. Despite efforts, the criminal left the property and headed towards the Sutthisan intersection.

Initial investigations indicate the suspect is likely female. The stolen vehicle was later spotted moving in the Minburi area without its license plate, with limited fuel remaining. The search for the suspect is ongoing.
