Victims continue to file complaints against “The Icon Group,” with the latest count showing 740 complaints amounting to 266 million baht over four days. Police are ensuring support for affected citizens.
On October 13, 2024, Police Commander Pol. Lt. Gen. Sopon Sarapatt revealed that 240 new complaints were registered that day, raising the total to around 800 complaints expected by the end of the day.
Investigators have allocated 70 officers to assist victims, who can file complaints at any police station without needing to visit the central police headquarters. Many victims are unrepresented legally while some have lawyers.
Some key individuals implicated include “Boss Paul,” the CEO, and four celebrity actors linked to The Icon Group. Various individuals, including actor Kant Kanthathaworn, have already met with investigators to provide statements.
When asked about the involvement of celebrities, Pol. Lt. Gen. Sopon indicated some are being questioned as suspects due to public complaints lodged against them.
Regarding the number of suspects, it was confirmed that some executives and celebrities are under investigation according to Article 134 of the Thai Penal Code.
Asked about potential charges, Pol. Lt. Gen. Sopon stated that the investigation is ongoing to ensure a fair process for all parties involved.
On the same day, Police Chief Pol. Gen. Kittiratt Phunpech discussed the case’s advancement and reassured that aid is available for victims across the nation. Investigators are actively gathering evidence. Police Chief emphasized the importance of maintaining public trust in law enforcement’s handling of the case.
He reiterated that the police must be a support system for victims who have lost money and emphasized their role in providing justice until full compensation is achieved or a conviction of the guilty party.
