A tragic incident occurred where a 67-year-old woman was fatally attacked by an American pitbull. The dog, owned by a relative, had recently exhibited aggressive behavior, prompting the owner to seek assistance in rehoming the animal.
The attack took place around 3:30 PM on September 23, in Samkhok District, Pathum Thani Province. Police and medical personnel arrived at the scene to find the victim, identified as Ms. Daeng Thamthan, lying on her back showing severe wounds inflicted by the dog.
According to reports, the pitbull belonged to a family member living nearby. Investigators found a bicycle and blood spattered throughout the vicinity of the incident. The police documented the scene for evidence.
The victim’s son, Mr. Tawee Makphong, stated he was unaware of his mother’s plans that day and was alerted by a relative that she had been attacked. He rushed to assist her, but help arrived too late.
Mrs. Kiattikhanok, the dog’s owner, mentioned that the animal, named “Poykai,” had been friendly up until recently, but had previously bitten her daughter and a neighbor. She expressed her inability to manage the dog’s care following the attack on Ms. Daeng.
She urged for help from authorities to take care of the pitbull, stating that she already has seven dogs and can no longer keep this one after it killed a family member.
Initial police actions included gathering evidence from the scene and questioning the dog’s owner. The body of the deceased was handed over to a foundation for forensic examination.
