Vision of “Heirs” to billionaires: 4 perspectives on sustainability

Yesterday, I introduced the significant annual event “Sustainability Expo 2024” (SX 2024), the largest sustainability expo in ASEAN, happening at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from September 27 to October 6, 2024, lasting a total of 10 days.

Today, I reiterate my encouragement for the public to attend, absorb new knowledge, ideas, and pathways for sustainable development that are crucial for the world’s future and our country.

Since its inception four years ago, attendance has been increasing annually, with around 400,000 to 500,000 visitors in total. I hope we will see double or triple the participation this year—aiming for 1 million attendees comparable to automotive shows.

However, I acknowledge that despite the modern presentation, an academic expo like this may still seem dull to some. Thus, I emphasize the importance of seeking knowledge at this event for those concerned about the planet’s future.

The expo features various programs divided into 10 zones, including a panel discussion area.

One highlighted discussion is the CEO Panel titled “Vision 2030: Power of Collaboration for a Sustainable Future.” The session will bring insights from prominent executives on applying sustainable development approaches in business and sharing experiences to enhance the capabilities of fellow organizational leaders.

The four participating CEOs include: 1. Supachai Chearavanont (Charoen Pokphand Group), 2. Thamasak Sethaoudom (SCG), 3. Thapan Sirivadhanabhakdi (Thai Beverage), and 4. Thiraphong Chansiri (Thai Union Group). The discussion will be moderated by Sutthichai Yoon.

This session is scheduled for October 4 from 10:00 to 11:15 AM at the Grand Plenary Hall of the convention center.

The key point is that besides Thamasak, who holds an executive position, the other three are heirs to major Thai fortunes, representing the country’s future leadership.

Their perspectives are noteworthy and offer valuable lessons for CEOs of smaller companies.

It’s rare for four influential economic figures from both the private and semi-private sectors like SCG to share a stage together, especially for free. I encourage readers to consider this discussion.
