Warning for 6 provinces of high tide flood risk from Sept 28-Oct 2

The National Water Resources Office (SWR) has issued a warning for six provinces, including Bangkok, regarding high tidal flooding risks from September 28 to October 2, 2024.

On September 26, 2024, reports indicated that the SWR announced a high tidal flooding alert due to the influence of strong southwest monsoon winds covering the Gulf of Thailand, resulting in heavy rainfall in some areas and water flow from upstream joining the rivers.

This situation could cause increased water levels in rivers, which raises flooding risks in low-lying areas along the Chao Phraya River, Maeklong River, and Tha Chin River, particularly in communities outside temporary barriers and areas without permanent flood defenses.

Areas at risk include Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Bangkok, and Samut Prakan.
