- Origin:Argentina
- Gender discrimination:the males are slimmer than the females
- Length:5 centimeters
- Temperature:18-27 degrees
Housing
The redfin salmon likes to swim and therefore needs a lot of free swimming space, with some planting. If you have a light surface, it will show almost no color, this is much better with a dark soil.
Social
The redfin salmon is a schooling fish and should actually be kept in a group of at least 7 conspecifics. It is a very peaceful animal and can therefore be kept in a community aquarium. However, it does not suit very calm fish, as it is a busy swimmer itself.
Water composition
This fish makes little or no demands on the water composition, but it likes to live in clear water with sunlight.
Food
The redfin salmon is an easy eater. He eats small, live food, but he also has no problems with dry food.
Breeding
It is easy to breed with this fish, but the colors of the captive bred are unfortunately not as beautiful as those of the wild caught. The parents should be set aside in a breeding tank where they will deposit eggs after raising the temperature to 24 degrees. The redfin salmon is a release agent, which means that the eggs will be spread throughout the aquarium. You have to be very careful, because they eat their own eggs just as easily. The young are easy to raise with brine shrimp and fine dust.
