Although the debut of the electric Audi A6 and S6* is planned for this year, the top derivative Audi RS 6 e-tron* is unlikely to be presented to the world public until much later in 2025. Our Erlkönig photographers have now caught two heavily camouflaged prototypes that at first glance look like conventional A6 e-trons. However, a closer look at the light signatures and especially at the large braking systems indicate that these are the performance models.

The front apron and light signature become clear identifying features
Also clearly visible on the prototypes are the two different front aprons (S and RS), the flush door handles and, further along the bulbous body (comparisons to the ID.7 don't seem entirely far off), the subtle tear-off edge on the trunk lid. Of course, major conclusions about the engine cannot be drawn from the visual appearance at this early stage.
Audi RS 6 e-tron with more power than the current combustion engine generation
However, the Porsche Macan Electric and the Audi Q6 e-tron, both of which are also based on the VW Group's Premium Platform Electric (PPE), provide the first clues. Both Audi Sport models are expected to have at least a 100 kWh battery in the vehicle floor. The drive is likely to be provided by two, and in the case of the RS 6 possibly three, electric motors – all-wheel drive is considered mandatory. If we look at the power output, the electric RS 6 should significantly outperform the current combustion engine generation. More power is also needed, as the S6 e-tron could already reach noticeably the 639 overboost hp of the Macan Turbo (combined power consumption (WLTP): 20.7 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; CO class: A)².
